Peter Jay Baskin


Peter Jay Baskin completed his undergraduate studies at Hofstra University and went on to obtain his law degree from Brooklyn Law School.

Mr. Baskin is the firm's litigation member, based in New York, who started his career in Customs and Trade Law as a trial attorney with the then Customs Section of the United States Department of Justice, and thereafter has for nearly forty years represented the legal interests of importers of various different commodities, including British steel crankshafts, German produced tunnel boring machines and Czech manufactured municipal fire fighting equipment, as well as commercial products ranging from Japanese manufactured subway cars and automobiles to Chinese produced telephone systems and footwear, administratively before United States Customs and Border Protection throughout the country and in trials before the United States Court of International Trade and in appellate proceedings before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Customs and International Trade Bar Association (CITBA) and Chairman of the Trial and Appellate Practice Committee of CITBA for more than ten years, and was for many years a member of the Advisory Committee of United States Court of International Trade.
